Design Engineer

Shift: 1st (6:30 am - 3:00 pm)

Job Description:

Responsible for the computer-aided-design (CAD) of customer parts, including designs and drawings of fixtures and tools used in the thermoforming process. Must have a high degree of aptitude in computer drafting skills, with the ability or experience to complete tasks with a minimum of supervision. Works closely with Project Engineering in developing drawings which advance the process of bringing parts to the sample and production phase. Works with Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering when modeling or drafting is required. Assists CMM Technicians with dimensional layouts and serves as a backup to the CMM Technicians.

Specific Duties

  1. Assists customers with part designs.
  2. Designs CMM measuring fixtures.
  3. Models 3D printed molds.
  4. Assists with creating mold sketches and box drawings.
  5. Assists with designing in-house machine components.
  6. Acts as a CMM Tech backup.
  7. Balloons 2D prints & prepares dimensional layout sheets ahead of CNC lineout.
  8. Assists in filling out dimensional layout sheets and PPAP paperwork.
  9. Performs various other duties as directed by the Design and CNC Development Manager.


Design and CNC Development Manager


Minimum of an A.S. Degree in CAD or Engineering related field
Creo (ProE) and/or Solidworks experience preferred
Experience with the plastic thermoforming process is preferred


Reports to the Design and CNC Development Manager.
